IT Jobs Postings

One of the other assignments we have is to search for 25 IT Job postings and we should examine and  determine the technical and non-technical skills that the companies are looking for. (Whew! That was a big sweat!haha searching 25 jobs to examine?!=D)

Based on my findings, people from different companies are needing people who are skilled in SQL. (Gosh! Why are we using Java if SQL is needed?!haha) Next to SQL is HTML then UNIX, last is JAVA and Oracle.

As I continue with my research, I found out that in the non-technical skills, the most qualified characteristic is the communication skills. Without having the right communication skills, the interviewer may not be convinced on the technical skills you have.

As a conclusion, without the combination of the technical and non-technical skills, he/she wouldn't be able to achieve the best job (best job?!haha). Always remember that in order to have a stable job, make sure to gain lots of knowledge and to acquire the right character. =D

"Gmail, very convenient"

During the first week of our schooling, our professor, sir Oliver Malabanan introduce to us the different kinds of web applications that we are going to use during our entire learning process to become an IS Professional. The first thing that was taught to us was the use of Gmail.

Gmail is compose of many applications that can help us to be productive. Gmail have calendars so that it will be easy for us to manage our time wisely and we can be able to share calendars with each other to know their "agendas". The Google Calendar is also amazing because it can send  a message five minutes before the actual business. (Isn't that awesome? An application which can provide us with easy reminders?!) Google can also do two doucument at the same time and the same document.(Wow! That's a big help to people who will be working as one =D!)

Over all, I can say that with google providing many applications, i can be able to do lots of work with having lots of time to do other things. And with the guidance of our professor in INTRICT, it will surely be an exciting term for us! =D

"Being An IS Professional"

On our second week, we started talking about being an IS Professional. According to our teacher, being an IS Professional can be a master of technology, master of human technology and master of designing to human system. I also learn about the difference between the BS-ICTM course and the BS-CS course.

Being an IS Professional, we should learn to be productive of our time so that we will be able to to more work in a lesser period of time. We should do things which we think have value and will benefit the user/owner, just like buying a new laptop, if the laptop you're buying wouldn't benefit you, is that just a waste of money? In any case, if you would know the applications that will help you, wouldn't it be easier to use your laptop and it will benefit to the owner. That's how a IS professional should be. He/She should benefit on what they are doing so that they can practice productivity. I think the demanded technology skills today is to be able to use such online applications such as online hard drive so that whenever your pc/ laptop worn out, you will not be bothered since your works have been saved to the online hard drive. The non-technical skills i should develop now is to be more productive and to be able to accomplish alot of things. Second, I should be able to think well and to be able to do impressive things.

As I learn new things about being an IS professional, I will have more time to develop both my non-technical skills as well as my technical skills so that in the next succeeding years, I would be able to acquire those things that I learn from my INTRICT class.
